What is the Presidency

When we talk about the Spanish Presidency of the European Union (EU), we refer to the Spanish Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the EU. In the Council of EU Ministers, the Presidency is organized in a rotationary system whereby each State holds the Presidency for a period of six months.

The Presidency has important obligations such as taking care of the Council Agenda and chair all meetings held by, promoting legislative and political decisions and mediating to achieve compromises among Member States.
